South Korean multinational tech giant LG launched its latest LG Ray smartphone on Wednesday, which will be available for roll out in the CIS (Russia, Ukraine etc) regions this week followed by Latin America. LG Ray is a 3G-only handset and it is destined for the 3G-dedicated regions. The availability in the other regions of the world and the pricing details would be announced later by the company.
The LG Ray sports a stunning metal design and comes loaded with “best-in-class features”, the company says. LG Ray flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution display with pixel density of 267ppi and comes with a 1.4GHz octa-core processor (unspecified) under the hood, coupled with 1GB RAM. This handset is available in both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. LG Ray comes with a 13-megapixel rear snapper and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter as well.
LG Ray houses 16GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded through a microSD card (unspecified limit). The handset measures 152.5×76.4×9.3mm dimension wise, weighs 158 grams and is powerd by a removable 3000mAh battery. The connectivity options of the LG Ray include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Though the device does not provide 4G LTE support and is exclusively built for the 3G connectivity.
If we talk about the phone’s design, Ray comes with the company’s iconic rear control button setup below the rear camera. The speaker grille is placed at the bottom corner of the handset’s rear panel. LG Ray will run on by the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.
The LG Ray will come in Gold, Silver and Titan Black color variants. However, the Gold and Titan Black versions will be available for sale in January next year. Though the phone is not shy on specifications, still LG targeted a particular market to launch this brand new phone. Juno Cho, the President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said in the launch event “Customers in 3G markets continue to be a priority for LG so we will continue to develop new products with these consumers in mind,” He later added that they will not compromise with the quality of the phone though the targeted region is more budget oriented in nature “No matter the country or the device, every LG customers will receive a unique user experience with a balance of design, performance and value,”
