New Nokia 8 Listed Ahead of Launch, But is it The Real Deal?

HMD Global, which manufactures smartphones under the Nokia brand name, has very big plans to revive the once-iconic brand. The nearest pit-stop is the Mobile World Congress or the MWC which will be held in. HMD Global is expected to unveil at least four new handsets on the first day of the event on Feb 26. They include the Nokia 3, three Nokia 5, the Nokia 6 and the evergreen Nokia 3310. The Nokia 8 may be launched in the same event and has been listed on popular Chinese online shopping sites. Their veracity has not been determined, however.

Till now, the Nokia 6 has been a China-exclusive product only. The new Nokia 8 has been listed on popular online destination JD.com or Jingdong Mall, which was formerly known as 360buy. This outlet is one of the largest B2c forums in that country. Another Hong Kong-based re-seller has also listed the same product on a different website. The problem is that the two listings show two different prices. While the listing on JD.com shows a price tag of CNY 3,188 which translated into a little over Rs 31,000, the Hong Kong-based reseller quotes a price tag of HKD 5999, which is slightly more than Rs 50,000. The two confusing prices indicate that no one knows the real price of the Nokia 8 for sure.
