So why the name Lake Blue? According to Xiaomi, this handset is a part of the ‘Wake the Lake’ project which is directly associated with the Indian government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative and a part of the revenue earned by selling each of the handsets will directly go to that noble cause.

So coming to the specifications of the Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue variant, it is similar to the other 4GB variants of the series. The handset flaunts a 5.5-inch full-HD 2.5D curved glass IPS display with the 1080×1920 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, like we mentioned earlier. The native storage capacity is further expandable by the virtue of the microSD card present at the handset.

On the optics front, the Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue variant sports a 13-megapixel CMOS shooter at the rear and a 5-megapixel CMOS snapper at the front. Backed by a 4100mAh battery, the handset supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity options.

The Managing Director at Xiaomi India and the Vice President at Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain said at the Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue launch event, “We are a company who believes in giving back to the community. Water bodies have been the source of water for ages for people of Bengaluru but over the past decade, these water bodies have been facing serious threat. To show our concern for the cause we are taking up the maintenance of Kempabudhi kere, to support BBMP in bringing it back to its initial days of glory as a project under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. To commemorate this cause, we are launching Redmi Note 4 Lake blue edition which would further contribute to this cause.”
