A new prime lens, called the SIGMA 16 mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens, has been developed exclusively for the Sony E-Mount mirrorless cameras. This new lens is in keeping with the recent trend in prime lenses, which have gained currency in recent times. Prime lenses have a fixed focal length, as opposed to the zoom lens. Sony has been launching a steady stream of cameras, including the Sony Alpha 7R III, which we have covered previously. The new SIGMA 16 mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens is a member of the APS-C format. In fact, it is the first lens in the APS-C format which offers a 24mm focal length as well as F1.4 brightness.
