While Apple seemingly is the first company to implement the face unlocking feature, there are other brand names which are emerging with this same trend and producing smartphones with the facial recognition security. The aforesaid technology perhaps offers a new way for users to deliver smartphones’ security. Therefore, we see smartphone makers releasing updates of their launched smartphones in order to incorporate such a feature in their devices. This time it is Huawei’s sub-brand Honor, which has released the new software update for its rebranded Honor V10 device: touted as the Honor View 10, and the device has received the face unlock technology features.
During the time of launch, the company announced that Honor View 10 will come with the face unlock feature but the technology supported limited functionalities such as opening mobile notifications, reports Gizbot. The new update carries several new functionalities. The rollout has started from January 17 already. Despite the fact that it is an OTA update, this would roll out in phases and most apparently it is said to reach all units by 24th of January.
The Honor View 10‘s new update comes with the face unlock which is a quite smart to detect users’ facial movements. When users aim to look away from the display, it will immediately turn off. To add, it will also adjust the display orientation (autorotation) as per the distance or the position of the smartphone and user. The OTA update also carries support for face unlocking when the eyes of users are closed or open. Features like the capability of changing the background of images while using the selfie shooter is also brought with the new update. In addition, it also brings the AI-assisted image enhancement resolution for high powered digital zoom images, AI motion detection in both the rear as well as the front cameras, AI Zoom, besides Smart Tips.
To recall, the Honor View 10 is already launched in the US and has gone on sale in India on Amazon.
