Moto G5S Price Slashed Just Ahead of Moto G6 Series Launch

Lenovo owned Motorola will be hosting a launch event on April 19 in Brazil. In the event, the smartphone manufacturer is expected to launch the Moto G6 series. The Moto G6 series comprises of three smartphones, the Moto G6, the Moto G6 Play and the Moto G6 Plus. Now just ahead of the launch, the company has announced a permanent price cut of Rs 5,000 on the Moto G5S.

The Moto G5S will now be available at a price of Rs 9,999 from Amazon and Moto Hubs and other third-party retail stores. The device is available in three color variants of Oxford Blue, Lunar Gold, and Fine Grey. Previously the Moto G5S had received a temporary price cut during Motorola 45th Anniversary sale just a few weeks ago.

To recall the specifications of the Moto G5S, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC under the hood. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is further upgradable with a micro-SD card. Coming to the camera department, the phone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front, it boasts a 5-megapixel camera also with an LED flash. It is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

This move by the company indicates that it is clearing stocks to make way for the upcoming Moto G6 series. As per earlier rumors and leaks, the Moto G6 is expected to come with a 5.7-inch full HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. It may feature a dual rear camera setup of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. On the front, it may feature a 16-megapixel camera.

Coming to the Moto G6 Play, it may sport a 5.7-inch full HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is likely to be powered by a Snapdragon 427 SoC with two storage options of 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage. It may be powered by a 4000mAh battery and may boast a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

The premium Moto G6 Plus is expected to arrive with 5.93-inch full HD display with a Snapdragon 630 chipset under the hood. It may be available in two variants of 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage space. It may sport a dual rear camera module with a 12MP and a 5MP camera. On the front, it may feature a 16MP sensor for selfies and video calling.
