Sony RX100 VI Cyber-Shot Camera with Zoom Lens Launched

Sony has launched a new model in its popular Cyber-shot RX100 camera range. The Cyber-shot range is known for its excellent image quality and compact form factor. The latest model is called RX100 VI and comes with some great features like Optical Steady Shoot and is also the first device in the RX100 series to feature a high magnification Zoom Lens.

The Sony RX100 VI features Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 24-200mm f2.8 – f4.5 lens and the company has also claimed that the zoom functionality makes it “an ideal choice for capturing daily life, cityscapes, portraiture, sports, wildlife, and everything in between.” The latest model of the Sony Cyber-shot camera will start shipping from the next month with will be available with a price tag of $1,200 (Rs 80,400 roughly).

The RX100 VI camera is equipped with a 20.1MP 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip. It also features an upgraded Bionz X image processing system that is claimed to maximize the processing speed and also enhance the image quality. The RX100 VI is also equipped with Fast Hybrid AF system that can reportedly acquire focus in just 0.03s. The camera also boasts the capability to shoot at up to 24fps at full HD resolution with a continuous AF/AE tracking and produces videos at 4K HD resolution.

Sony has also claimed that the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 24-200mm f2.8 – f4.5 lens has the power of both the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm focal lengths. Additionally, it features two ED aspherical glass elements and eight aspherical lens elements including four AA lenses.  The lens is also equipped with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization features that prevent camera shakes and blurry images in low light conditions.

 The camera also has a retractable 2.35 million dot OLED viewfinder and a rear screen that can flip up to 90 degrees. The camera also features a Monitor Auto-Off function that increases the overall life of the battery and also boosts the maximum number of still images that can be taken with a single charge by up to 30%. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, WiFi, and NFC.
