WhatsApp Delete for Everyone Feature Gets Updated with New Rules

Popular instant messaging service WhatsApp has released an update for its app that improves the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature. The Delete for Everyone feature was rolled out last year to allow the users to deleted unwanted or accidentally sent messages from the platform. While the initial time limit for deleting messages was 7 minutes, it was later increased to 1 hour 8 minutes and 16 seconds. Now the company has further updated the feature to ensure that is not misused via unofficial modifications.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature has now received a check where if the recipient of the message does not receive the delete request for the message in 13 hours, 8 minutes and 16 seconds, the message will not be deleted. In other words, if you want to delete a sent message and the recipient does not receive the delete request within 13 hours, 8 minutes and 16 seconds, the message will not get deleted even if you tap on ‘Delete for Everyone’. This feature makes it mandatory for the recipient to receive the delete request to facilitate the deletion of present messages on the platform.

WhatsApp has reportedly added this feature to ensure that modified versions of WhatsApp cannot manipulate with the time limit of 13 hours 8 minutes and 16 seconds to delete older messages that have been sent much earlier. Also, this feature works silently in the background so the users will not have to take care of it in at the front end.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp developers are currently working on a new Stickers feature to add support for third-party stickers on the platform. There is no information about the availability of this feature and WhatsApp is yet to make an official statement about the same. But since the Delete for Everyone feature has been updated, it is expected that the sticker support will also be added soon on the platform.
