  • A display device like a high-definition television (HDTV) that has an HDMI input.
  • Access to an available USB port on your HDMI-enabled display device.
  • Access to a secure wireless network.
  • Connection to a 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi network.
  • A compatible Android or iOS device or tablet, or Mac, Windows or Chromebook computer. Here is a list of the compatible device –
  1. Android 4.1 and higher
  2. iOS 7.0 and higher
  3. Chrome 28 and higher
  4. Windows 7 and higher
  5. Mac OS 10.7 and higher

Set up Chromecast for Android 4.1 And Higher

  • Plug in the Chromecast device.
  • Download and install the Chromecast app in your Android device.
  • Launch the app be sure to read Privacy and Terms.
  • Select Accept.
  • Select your Chromecast.
  • Select Set Up.
  • Check to see that the code on your phone matches the code on your TV.
  • Select I see the code.
  • Change the name of your Chromecast, if you want by selecting Set Name. 
  • Connect your Chromecast to your WiFi network.
  • Select Set Network
  • You’re ready to roll.

Set up Chromecast for iOS 7.0 and Higher

  1. Download and install the Chromecast app on your Chromecast supported iOS device.
  2. Launch app and be sure to read the Privacy and Terms.
  3. Select Accept.
  4. Next select Set Up a New Chromecast.
  5. Exit the Chromecast app >Go to your iOS Settings > Wi-Fi > “ChromecastXXXX
  6. Navigate back to the Chromecast app.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Make sure the code on your phone matches the code on your TV.
  9. Select I See the Code.
  10. Select Your Region.
  11. Go to Next.
  12. Rename your Chromecast, if you want by selecting Set Name. 
  13. Connect your Chromecast to your WiFi network.
  14. Select Set Up.

How to Set Up Google Chromecast

Set up Chromecast for Chrome 28 and Higher

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of Chrome. If not, update it.
  • Navigate to chromecast.com/setup from the Chrome browser on your computer.
  • You will then need to install the latest Google Cast extension.
  • After the installation is complete look in the top right corner of your Chrome browser, see the Cast button which looks like this – Inactive cast extension
  • When Google cast extension has been installed, navigate back to Chromecast.com/setup and click the link to “Set up from this Computer”.
  • Chrome will now look for Chromecast devices that need to be set up.
  • Select the device that matches the Chromecast name on your TV. It will be something like -ChromecastXXXX.
  • Select Set Me Up.
  • Go to your Wi-Fi menu and select the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device name.
  • Click Next.
  • The code on your device should match the code on your TV. If it does, click Yes. Or else click No and restart the setup process from step number 5.
  • Change the name of your Chromecast or you can leave it as the default name.
  • Choose your country.
  • Select Looks Good.
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network by clicking the upside down arrow. Enter your password.
  • Select Connect.
  • Go back to your Wi-Fi menu and choose your Wi-Fi network.
  • Select Next.
  • And that’s it folks!

Set up Chromecast for Windows 7 and Higher

  1. Download and install the Chromecast app from Chrome Browser.
  2. Launch the Chromecast app to view Privacy and Terms. Read it throughly.
  3. Select Accept.
  4. From list of device select your Chromecast.
  5. Select Set Up.
  6. Select Continue to connect your Chromecast to your wireless network.
  7. Confirm the code on your computer matches the code on your TV.
  8. Select That’s my code.
  9. Next select your home WiFi network and enter your password.
  10. Select Continue.
  11. Done!

Set up Chromecast for Mac OS 10.7 and Higher

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of Chrome. If not then update it.
  • Navigate to chromecast.com/setup from the Chrome browser on your computer.
  • You need to install the latest Google Cast extension, in order to set up Chromecast from your computer.
  • After the installation process is complete, look n the top right corner of your Chrome browser, you should see the Cast button that looks like this – Inactive cast extension
  • Once you have the Google cast extension installed, navigate back to Chromecast.com/setup and select “Set up from this Computer”.
  • Chrome will now look for Chromecast devices that need to be set up.
  • Select the device that matches the Chromecast name you see on your TV. It’ll look something like ChromecastXXXX.
  • Select Set Me Up.
  • Go to your Wi-Fi menu and select the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device name.
  • Select Next.
  • The code on your device should match the code on your TV. If it does, select Yes, or else select No and restart the setup process from step number 5.
  • Change the name of your Chromecast if you want to.
  • Choose your country.
  • Select Looks Good.
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network by clicking the upside down arrow.
  • Enter your password.
  • Select Connect.
  • Go back to your Wi-Fi menu and choose your Wi-Fi network. 
  • Click Next.
  • Once setup has successfully completed, you will see a blue banner that says “Let’s Start Casting!”
  • Your Chromecast is now ready to cast.
