Google Pixel 2: 4 Features We Can Expect On The New Google Flagship

The Google Pixel 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated phones this year. In fact, if reports are to be believed, the Google Pixel 2 will have a smaller and cheaper sibling, called the Pixel 2B. The Pixel 2 flagship is expected to remain a premium phone on the lines of the Pixel and the Pixel XL. These two new phones are expected to release in October this year. Google Head of Hardware Rick Osterloh confirmed to various sources that the new phones would follow the legendary legacy of the existing Google flagships. Google has a tough job on their hands, as they must stay ahead of the challenge posed by Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8.

Feature 1: Improved Display

The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2B both must have an exceedingly impactful display. This will be achieved by redrawing the existing display ratio and changing it to an 18:9 aspect ratio. The AMOLED display screens are expected to stay, although some LCD screens have been shown to be very close competitors at the top level. We expect that the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2B will have a display size of between 5.0 and 5.5-inches. This will ensure that the new phone still stays at the top of the points table.

The 2560 x 1440 pixels currently on offer will stay on, it seems. This is the ideal display resolution when it comes with compatibility with many existing VR headsets, including the Daydream headset.

Feature 2: Quality Hardware

The Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2B both must come with the Snapdragon 835 SoC. This is the one chipset that makes all the difference when it comes to the premium smartphones. Samsung too came up with its homegrown Exynos 8895 processor to power some of its Galaxy S8 models. This means that Google must resort to its own engineering as well as focus on some of Intel’s chipsets as well. Rumours already state that Google is working on improving the existing Pixel’s chipset. The Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2B will come with a minimum of 4GB of RAM and may reach 6Gb as well. Expect a minimum of 64GB of native storage. Google must start supporting microSD cards as well.

Feature 3: A 3D Biometric Scanner

Qualcomm has already shown that the 3D biometric sensor is the technology of the future. This ensures that sweaty hands need not compromise with your phone’s security. Apple has already introduced the TouchID in its flagship phones. Google will look to do one better. A biometric scanner which can be embedded on the home button is also on the cards, apparently.

Feature 4: Better Cameras

The Google Pixel 2 will have to pull a stunner if it has to outdo the Samsung Galaxy S8. With better low-light photography and superb features, the Pixel and the Pixel XL are already very good camera phones. The new Pixel range will have to embrace dual-camera setups with alacrity. The new Pixel 2 range will have better features including better Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) as well.
