Leaks Suggest Upcoming Assassin’s Creed Game’s Title and Settings

After a deluge of leaks and reports since the beginning of last year, we now seem to have stumbled upon the title of Ubisoft‘s Assassin’s Creed game currently in the works. More than a few publications got in touch with their sources inside Ubisoft to confirm that the upcoming title will indeed be called Assassin’s Creed Origins.

The news was first reported by WWG a few days back, who had got hold of a bunch of intriguing information about the game’s timeline, settings, and other details. According to them, Assassin’s Creed Origins will be a prequel that would go back to the roots of the series to the days of the original Assassin’s Guild. The game is to be set in ancient Egypt- something that we had heard of in 2016, thanks to a leak last year which hinted that the developers were working on models of what looked like Egyptian pyramids. Other related information suggests that Assassin’s Creed Origins will be a huge open world game with players being able to navigate across nations via waterways.

This last point seems to have found more grounding after a recent leak on Reddit. An image, which has been deleted after cooking up a storm (as has been the user name that it appeared under), showcased what looked like a developer build of the game shot on a monitor. In it, we can see a man sailing on a wooden boat with shield, and a bow and arrows in tow. The locations would not have been too clear had there not been specific mission names and instructions accompanying it. If the text at the top of the monitor is too blurry for you to read, the mission is titled as “Assassinate the Crocodile, and the accompanying instructions state that the player is supposed to “follow Shadya to Khenut’s Villa.”

While it is easy to still feel a little sceptical, the references to crocodiles along with the names definitely seem to suggest the Egyptian setting. In addition to that, another set of sources also state that the game will span several different timelines in history as well as locations that will range from Europe to Asia.

Assassin’s Creed Origins, which has had a longer development period than the other titles in the series, will apparently be showed off at this year’s E3. The game will come out on the Windows PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime later this year. We imagine more information will flow in over the coming months, so keep an eye out.
