LG G6 vs Blackberry KEYone: Which of These Two is The Better Device?

When it comes to smartphones, both LG and Blackberry are giants. Each of the companies designs their products keeping a specific audience in mind. It stands to reason, therefore, that their flagship devices too be different from one another. However, both the LG G6 and the Blackberry KEYone, the latter unveiled recently, are winning face-offs hands down. For example, the KEYone had fared very well against the OnePlus 5 in our test. The LG G6 had fared better than the comparable Sony Xperia XZ Premium as well. Now, we pit the two flagships against each other.

The LG G6 has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 2880×1440 pixels and a pixel density of 564 DPI or Dots Per Inch. Protection will be offered thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On the other hand, the Blackberry device has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with a display resolution of 1620×1080 pixels with a PPI (or Pixels Per Inch) of 441. Also present is Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Overall, the LG G6 has a better display quality.

LG G6 vs Blackberry KEYone: Processor

At the heart of the LG G6 is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, which has four cores and is clocked at 2.35GHz. The Blackberry KEYone is powered by the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, one which is clocked at 2.0GHz. The GPU unit on the G6 is the Adreno 530 while the Adreno 506 GPU is present on the Blackberry device. The LG G6 is the clear winner here.

The LG flagship device is powered by 4GB of RAM while the KEYone has 3GB of RAM. The G6 has more storage options, including variants with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of storage, all of which are expandable. The KEYone only has one storage variant, with 64GB of native expandable storage. Overall, the LG G6 wins this round as well.

LG G6 vs Blackberry KEYone: Cameras/Battery

The LG G6 has two rear cameras, one with a 13MP sensor and with 3-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and PDAF or Phase Detection Autofocus. The other camera also has a 13MP sensor with fixed focus and LED flash. The front snapper is 5MP and has a f/2.2 aperture. The Blackberry KEYone, on the other hand, has a single 12MP rear camera which has PDAF and dual LED flash. The KEYone, however, has a bigger front snapper with an 8MP sensor. The LG G6 has better cameras overall.

However, the Blackberry KEYone has a bigger battery compared (a 3,505 mAh Li-Ion, non-removable battery) to the LG G6, which has a 3,300 Li-Po, non-removable battery.

Verdict

Based on the rounds, we can state with conviction that the LG G6 is clearly the better device. However, the Blackberry KEYone is no laggard and is able to provide stiff competition even with watered down specs. If you need a smartphone with a closed ecosystem like Blackberry provides, go for the KEYone. Else, you can opt for the mass market favorite like the LG G6.
