We had recently reported how the new handset could bring with it 3D facial recognition and a bezel-less design, which is the current trend. We have also informed you how the new device had been listed on Geekbench with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC on board. The new Xiaomi device will have a large 6.4-inch display as we had reported earlier. In fact, there are reports that the new device will launch on September 12. This report by PlayfulDroid was the first to reveal that the new device had gotten past the 3C barrier. The new device has been codenamed Chiron as we have reported earlier. The 3C cleared the Mi Mix 2 with two different model numbers: the MDE5 and MDT5. We expect that there will thus be at least two variants of the new Mi Mix 2. Also on board is the MDY-08-ES Quick Charge 3.0 charger, as the 3C certification reveals. A quick check of the specs and features will be instructive here. The new Xiaomi device will feature a 6-inch display manufactured by the Japanese Display International or JDI. JDI is a crucial partnership between three giants: Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi. With a screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent, w believe that an aspect ratio of 18:9 will be supported, making the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 ideal for watching widescreen movies. At the core of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz. This processor is paired with the great Adreno 540 GPU. We expect two variants of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 to appear: the base variant with 6GB of RAM together with 128GB of internal/native storage while the more premium variant will have 8GB of RAM and armed with 256GB of internal storage. Note that none of the devices will have expandable storage. While the 6GB RAM variant will carry a price tag of 3,999 Yuan, or around Rs 38,423, the 8GB RAM variant may come for 4,999 Yuan or approximately Rs 48,031.
