Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S under Development: Will it Arrive at The MWC 2018?

Smartphone manufacturers are reported to unleash their flagship devices at the beginning of this year, and talking about Xiaomi is a no big exception on this front. As seen during the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2017 (when Snapdragon 845 mobile platform was unveiled), the CEO of the Beijing based tech giant, Lei Jun, stated that company’s next flagship phone would house the Snapdragon 845. Next month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, the presence of the company will let the tech world know about the next smartphone the company has decided to unveil.

While previous reports have already revealed that Xiaomi will bring the Mi 7 flagship phone at the Mobile World Congress this year, the newer report from GizmoChina refers to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S which would possibly be unveiled at the MWC 2018. Following the launch of the trendsetting company’s iPhone X (which features a full-screen design alongside a notch at the top), several smartphone giants have been rumored to bring similar technology with their upcoming device. Take, for instance, we already reported how Huawei P20 was reported to bring a new dimension to the full-screen trend design with a notch at the display’s upper part. The smartphone is also foreseen to feature a massive 6.01-inch LCD display alongside.

Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, is reportedly developing a handset with a full-screen design which will have an iPhone-like notch. Codenamed as Polaris, it is expected to be wishfully and safely called the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. The device is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and coupled with 6 GB of RAM. On the optics front, there would be a dual camera setup featuring a 12-megapixel RBG sensor and the 12-megapixel monochrome sensor on the rear panel. Rumors are rife that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S may offer an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. On the pricing front, this Xiaomi device is anticipated to debut with a price tag of 3,000 Yuan.

On the contrary, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is envisioned to come with a full-screen design which will be fitted with an 18:9 aspect ratio. One of the dual cameras will offer the Sony IMX386. Up till now, Xiaomi is yet to finalize the design. Its final design which would possibly deliver a similar aesthetics like the iPhone X.
