Google has sent out media invites for a launch event that is scheduled to take place on April 10. The company has revealed that it will launch a “sweet little thing” that will keep you talking for a long time. Going by the hint, it is expected that the company may launch the Google Home smart speaker in India.
To recall, Google had unveiled the Google Home smart speaker in October 2016, while the next generation Google Home Mini was launched in October 2017. Now, Google is all set to bring both the gadgets to India and unveil them officially at the planned launch event. As per a report by the Economic Times, the Google Home may be priced at Rs 9,999 while the Google Home Mini may come with a price tag of Rs 4,499.
Google India has also confirmed on Twitter via a tweet that the smart speakers will be launched soon but did not reveal the launch date. However, as per sources, the launch could take place on April 10 at the launch event planned by Google in India.
The report has also claimed that alongside the smart speakers, Google may also launch a mid-range Pixel smartphone in India around July or August of this year. Apart from that, Google also has plans to launch Google WiFi and Pixelbook series in India by the end of the year.
Talking about the Google Home smart speaker, it can not only play music but also assist the users in various tasks and also answer questions through voice commands. Users need to activate the voice command service by saying “Ok Google” and the smart speaker can then play music according to the commands using Google Play music, Pandora service, and Youtube channels.
Coming to the hardware of Google Home speaker, it comes with a 2-inch driver and a dual 2-inch passive radiator on the sides of the speaker. On the top, it features a touch panel that features 4 LED indicator lights for controlling various functions like volume, pause and play audio and call up Google Assistant.
The Google Home Mini is a compact version of the Google Home smart speaker which sports a fabric speaker grill on top and a plastic base at the bottom. It also comes with three LED indicator lights and a touch panel for controlling various functions.
