HTC U12+ with 6GB RAM and Edge Sense Technology Launched

HTC has unveiled its first flagship smartphone of 2018. Dubbed as HTC U12+, the device becomes the successor of the HTC U11+ that was launched last year. The specifications are similar to the ones that were leaked some days ago and also feature a better camera than its predecessor.

The HTC U12+ features a 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD display with a resolution of 2880 X 1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone sports very thin bezels on the sides and does not feature the notch. Apart from that, it comes with a translucent back like its predecessor that was widely appreciated last time. It is available in three color variants of translucent blue, ceramic black and flame red.

The HTC U12+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM. It is available in two storage variants of 64GB and 128GB with the same RAM capacity of 6GB on both. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and also features the Edge Sense 2 technology that allows the users to squeeze to access or control the phone. The smartphone also comes with customizable gesture controls to launch the camera or Google Assistant.

One of the major highlights of this device is its camera module. The HTC U12 Plus sports four cameras in total with two on the rear and two in front. On the rear, it features a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with auto-focus, optical image stabilization, AR stickers, RAW shooting and LED flash.

On the front, the smartphone features a dual 8-megapixel camera module with a wide-angle view, portrait and bokeh mode. The front cameras can also be used for recording 4K videos at 60fps and 1080p slow motion videos at 240fps.

The device also comes with an IPS68 rating for water and dust resistivity. Connectivity options include Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and dual-SIM 4G LTE support. Powered by a 3,500mAh battery that supports Quick Charging 3.0, the device can be charged to 50% in 30 minutes. The HTC U12+ is now available for pre-order at $799 for the 64GB variant and $849 for the 128GB variant.
